Dress Code

The Administration of HAIS believes that appropriate dress and grooming contribute to a productive learning environment in high school and college classes. The Administration expects students to give proper attention to personal cleanliness and to wear clothes that are suitable for the school activities in which they participate.

Violations of the dress code will be documented and consequences will be issued. 

Students are allowed to wear pants, including jeans, skirts, or shorts in various colors. Shorts and skirts must be as long as a student’s fingertips. Shirts may be sleeveless, but they must come to the end of the shoulder. Shirts must be buttoned at all times.

The following clothes are not permissible:
Transparent Clothing (lace, mesh, net)
Pants with excessive or inappropriate holes
Shirts that expose the midriff or upper body area 
Shirts with bare backs or spaghetti straps
No clothes that reveal shoulders (spaghetti straps, athletic jerseys, etc). Sleeveless shirts are OK.
Jewelry or clothing promoting sex, drugs, alcohol, or gangs are not permitted. Undergarments should not be visible. The HAIS administration reserves the right to limit piercings that are distracting or dangerous to the learning environment.


Any student in violation of the code will receive the consequences as follows: 

1st - 3rd Violation – Warning/Phone Call Home
Subsequent Violations can result in additional disciplinary actions including in alignment with the Code of Student Conduct.
The administration reserves the right to determine appropriate dress for dress code violations not specified in the above list.
